Review: The Traveler by Joseph Eckert

4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Release date: June 9, 2026

Scott Trader’s whole life changes when he jumps forward through time 24 hours. He doesn’t know how, or why, or how to stop it. But at 7:52 am, he jumps forward in time, doubling the time he’s missing with each jump. Scott is missing time with his wife and is missing his son, Lyle (once seven years old), growing up. Scott does everything he can to try to stop time jumping, and eventually his son makes this his own lifelong work.

The first half of this book, I was very invested in what would happen to Scott, and what the next time he jumped into would look like. I couldn’t put it down. The Traveler reminded me a lot of Dark Matter by Blake Crouch and I am a big fan of time-travel stories.

But by the middle of it I was confused. What else could possibly happen?! And the pacing slowed down significantly as Scott navigated times so futuristic they were somewhat difficult to grasp.

The end of this story was not what I expected, but I loved the way this story focused on Scott and Lyle’s father-son relationship. Scott grieved his wife and his son’s childhood so greatly, I wanted Scott to find his way back as well.

Thank you Tor and Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this book!

Review: Love Lethal, Death Divine by Jelena Dunato

4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love Lethal, Death Divine follows Liana and Melia, both fighting their fate in different timelines, tied to the same prince and kingdom heading towards disaster. Liana makes a bargain with the gods for three days to get her dead husband back, and Melia is trapped in a political marriage that spirals into war.

I sometimes struggle with dual POV structure, but Dunato did it well, as Liana and Melia were such different characters. The stakes felt high with the political tension, and I loved Liana’s arc.

There wasn’t a lot of romance, and it felt like there could have been so much more for the character development.

Overall a great time-travel, female led fantasy novel!

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC!

March 2026 Reads

I read 18 total books in March! I knocked out a lot of eARCs this month, kept up with my audiobook Libby holds, and continued my very long journey through the Outlander series.

It was a slower month for physical books, but I finished out the Beasts of Prey trilogy with Beasts of Ruin and Beasts of War. I rated all three books in this series 4 stars. I also picked up And Now, Back to You after loving First-Time Caller last month. Both were 5-star reads! I read the sixth book in the Outlander series, a solid four-star read (much, much better than the fifth book). And finally, I read Time-Tripping Over You, which was an enthusiastic five stars.

I wanted to read all of the Castle Knoll Files before reading the eARC of the third. This was an all-three-star series! I read Dungeons and Drama a couple of years ago, so I read Dating and Dragons before moving on to the third in the series, Rolls and Rivalry. Solid 4-star series. I also read the advanced copies of Obstetrix and Dolly All the Time.

People We Meet on Vacation on audiobook surprised me — 5 star rating for sure (and it’s far better than the movie, but that’s another post for another time). I listened to First Lie Wins for local book club. I’m in the process of listening to the Crescent City graphic audiobooks (as a re-read) to prep for ACOTAR 6. The Three Lives of Cate Kay was SO good! A little hard to keep up with, but so good.
